International Day of the Disappeared, 2011

Each year August 30th marks the International Day of the Disappeared, an important day for the more than 1,300 families in Nepal who continue to wait for the truth concerning the whereabouts of their loved ones.  Since its inception in 2009, NEFAD has been an active organizer and participant of events to commemorate IDD.  In 2011, the organization and its representatives took part in 3 days of programs including those organized by Amnesty InternationalINSEC and Advocacy Forum in the Kathmandu Valley.  The final event on the evening of August 30th was a candlelight vigil in Kathmandu’s Durbar Square where a candle was lit in memory of each disappeared person.  NEFAD also unveiled its poster and logo at this event (seen below).  NEFAD thanks all those in attendance and expressed their eternal solidarity in the continued struggle for truth and justice.
